California Lemon Law protects consumers who buy or lease a vehicle that has serious defects the manufacturer cannot fix after a reasonable number of attempts.

If your car is a “lemon,” the manufacturer must:

• Replace the vehicle
  or 
• Refund your money (including payments, taxes, and fees)

Your vehicle may qualify if:

• It has a substantial defect (affects use, value, or safety) 
• The issue continues after multiple repair attempts 
• The car has been in the shop for a significant number of days 

Common examples:

• Engine or transmission problems 
• Brake or safety issues 
• Electrical failures 
• Persistent warning lights
